Dear Friends,

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I extend this invitation to you for the 2019 Golden Anniversary Gala – Celebrating more than 50 Years of Transforming Lives & Building Communities. The gala will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at Grand Marquis in Old Bridge, New Jersey.

Since 1967, the Second Street Youth Center has been an anchor institution in the Plainfield community. The Center staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly over the decades to fulfill its mission to provide comprehensive programs for children, parents, caretakers, guardians and community residents-at-large.

This evening, we are honoring individuals who throughout their personal and professional accomplishments have consistently valued the importance of early childhood education and why there is a need to invest in a child’s early years in order to maximize their potential.

Please join us as we celebrate these individuals whose achievements and contributions warrant recognition from us all: Assemblywoman Linda S. Carter, First Lady Tammy Snyder Murphy, Ms. Rosalin Petrucci, Rev. Ronald C. Thomas and Ms. Sandra L. Martin.

Through your support SSYC students will continue to learn in a state of the art facility with 21st Century classrooms that will lift them academically and ensure their future success.

Thank you in advance for your support. I look forward to seeing you.

With Sincere Gratitude,
Leah Dade

Second Street Youth Center Inc. is an anchor institution within Plainfield, a city where the average annual income is nearly $20,000 less than the statewide average annual income. This multi-purpose agency has been steadfast since its 1967 inception, dedicated to growth: intellectually, emotionally, physically and socially of youth and families.

SSYC has provided educational programming, cultural and recreational opportunities for at-risk children in the Plainfield community for over 50 years. Awarded the 2019 NJ Futures SMART Growth Award, SSYC Programs are housed in their state of the art educational center.

The holistic approach provides a continuum of programs that positively impacts access to preschool, nutrition, physical and emotional health, environmental factors, community and family structures, summer learning loss and educational instruction.
